主体是两只丹顶鹤和一棵巨松，作者用笔极为简老，用抖动的笔触，勾画出动物和植物的轮廓，似断似续。用浓墨挥写出鹤尾，墨色浓重，与鹤背淡墨轻勾的绒毛形成了强烈的对照。
